CITY THEATRE CONCLUDES 2010/11 SEASON
WITH LOUDER FASTER, WORLD PREMIERE
WRITTEN FOR PITTSBURGH
Comedy Places Famed Pittsburgh-Born
Playwright George S. Kaufman
at the Center
of a Kaufman-like Plot
May 7–29, 2011
City Theatre presents the world premiere of Louder Faster by Jeffrey Hatcher (Compleat Female Stage Beauty,
Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde) and Eric Simonson (Lombardi,
Speak American). Under the direction of Artistic Director
Tracy Brigden, Louder Faster runs May 7–29, 2011
on City Theatre’s Main Stage with an Opening Night
Performance on Friday, May 13, at 8pm.
Co-authors Hatcher and Simonson previously teamed up in 2004 for City Theatre’s production of Work Song: Three Views of Frank Lloyd Wright.
Louder Faster features Tony Bingham, Jeffrey Carpenter, Martin Giles, Patrick Jordan, Robyne Parrish,
Brian Sgambati, and Marina Squerciati.
The design team includes Tony Ferrieri (Scenic),
Michael Krass (Costume), Andrew David Ostrowski (Lighting), and Brad Peterson (Sound).
City Theatre favorites Hatcher and Simonson celebrate Pittsburgh-born comic playwright George S. Kaufman by placing him at the center of his own Kaufman-like plot. The famed dramatist returns to his Pittsburgh childhood home to cure a case of writer’s block, only to find himself foiled at every turn by slamming doors, mistaken identities, and a hilarious assortment of eccentric locals.
