PITTSBURGH, PA (December 22, 2009)—City Theatre continues its 35th anniversary season with the United States premiere of The Clockmaker by Stephen Massicotte. Directed by City Theatre Artistic Director Tracy Brigden, The Clockmaker will run on City Theatre’s Main Stage from January 23–February 21, 2010. The Opening Night performance will take place Friday, January 29.

The Clockmaker won the Best New Play at the 2009 Betty Mitchell Awards, celebrating Calgary’s best professional theatre. Massicotte’s play Mary’s Wedding was produced by City Theatre last March and is also a Betty Award winner.

Equal parts comic love story and metaphysical murder mystery, The Clockmaker was praised as “charming” and for providing “a delightful shock” by The Canada Globe and Mail. Frieda presents Heinrich with her husband's beloved cuckoo clock to be repaired, setting in motion an extraordinary race against time to solve a mysterious puzzle that will keep audiences guessing—and on the edge of their seats.

The Clockmaker features Harry Bouvy (Heinrich Mann), Tami Dixon (Frieda), Daryll Heysham (Pierre), and Joel Ripka (Adolphus).

The design team includes Jeff Cowie (Scenic), Pei-Chi Su (Costume), Andrew David Ostrowski (Lighting), and Eric Shimelonis (Sound).
