City Theatre Artistic Director Tracy Brigden Directs Author of Fiction and Honus and Me Returns to City Theatre
April 10–May 16, 2010
City Theatre continues its 35th anniversary season with Shooting Star by Steven Dietz author of Honus and Me and Fiction, both previously produced at City Theatre. Directed by Tracy Brigden, City Theatre’s Artistic Director, Shooting Star will run on City Theatre’s Lester Hamburg Stage from April 10–May 16, 2010. Members of the media are invited to the Opening Night performance on Friday, April 16 at 8 pm.
A chance reunion … Elena and Reed were full of peace, love, and homemade soup in the 70s when their relationship bloomed in college, but then they split up and the decades moved on. Now, twenty-five years later, they find themselves in an accidental reunion at a snowed-in airport. She's still the idealistic hippy, but he's gone corporate. Stuck for the night, they unearth past secrets and rekindle their passion, reaching for a second chance, if it hasn't slipped away. The Austin American Statesmen says Shooting Star "elevates ordinary conversation to a kind of music with precise rhythms and exquisitely timed phrases."
Shooting Star features Laurie Klatscher (Elena) and Andrew May (Reed). The design team includes Tony Ferrieri (Scenic), Ange Vesco (Costume), Allen Hahn (Lighting), and Brad Peterson (Sound).
