Pennsylvania’s Education Improvement Tax Credit Program allows business-owners to redirect their tax dollars to support nonprofit organizations that offer activities that improve educational opportunities for public school students. Tax credits are awarded to businesses in July and are quickly exhausted; to apply for tax credits, click here for the PA DCED EITC website.
Last year, City Theatre provided more than 2,000 students and teachers in grades 7 through 12 with educational improvement activities that included:
- Twelve student matinee performances of four productions, including the Young Playwrights Festival;
- More than 250 hours of teaching artist residencies in the six schools in the Young Playwrights and Radio Drama programs;
- Two fully-professional productions of six one-act plays by writers in grades 7 through 12 through the Young Playwrights Festival;
- Two days of professional development training for local educators.
City Theatre encourages business owners to consider participating in the EITC program, so you can support City Theatre’s education activities at virtually no added cost to your business. Please contact John Federico, Director of Development, at 412-431-4400 ext. 226 or send him an email.
